New to Hockey?

Step 1: Learn To Skate

Skating is the foundation step to playing hockey.  Everyone interested in playing hockey needs to begin with Learn To Skate (LTS). Skaters need to pass LTS Hockey 1 and Hockey 2 classes before they can move on to the Start Smart program.

Please contact Tara Denkers if you have any questions about Learn To Skate at tdenkers@provo.org.

Step 2: Start Smart

Start Smart (SS) is the transitionary class that prepares individuals for organized hockey.  SS should be taken for at least one session before registering for our Predators Youth Hockey program in the Fall.  This class will teach the basic hockey skills needed to participate on a Predators team.

Step 3: Provo Predators Youth Hockey Team

The Provo Predators are the Rec/Travel/Tier II youth hockey organization in Provo.  At the rec level, evaluations are held each August to determine D1 (more competitive) and D2 team placement. D2 is viewed as a developmental recreation level while D1 is viewed as a more competitive recreation level. The teams offered at Provo range from 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U.
